Let's multiply these bracketed terms together

To multiply terms in brackets we need to multiply each pair of terms. We can use the acronym foil, for first outer inner last, to remember

Let's multiply our first terms, we have 'X' times 'Y'

Now our outer terms, that's minus 7 'X'

Then our inner terms, which is plus 4 'Y'

And our last terms, which is minus 28
