Let's see if we can remove a common factor from this pair of terms

We can look at the numerical coefficients first. A common factor of 4 can be taken out. Remember that since we are removing it from both terms, the terms are bracketed together so all are multiplied by 4.

Looking at the variables, only an 'X' is common, so we can remove that. Now we have our answer.
