Let's simplify this expression to a pair of bracketed terms that each have one of the variables. Notice that our 'X' 'Y' term has a coefficient, so we need to approach this a bit differently

Let's group the terms into terms that have a 'Y' and terms that don't.

Looking at the first bracketed group, we can see that there is a common factor of 2 'Y', so let's take that out

In the second bracketed group, there is a common factor of 3, so we can take that out.

We have a common factor of 3 'X' plus 4, so we can take that out and rearrange for our answer
