Angle of circle sector from area

Sector angle from a circle's sector area

This math skill involves calculating the angle of a sector in a circle given the area of the sector. First, determine the area of the entire circle, then find the ratio of the sector's area to the circle's area. This ratio, applied to the full 360 degrees, gives the sector's angle.

What is the angle of the sector if its area is 84.8?

We can find the area of the full circle using pi times r squared

Which would be 81 pi, or around 254.5

So our sector covers one third of the circle

A full circle is 360 degrees, so we have one third of that

Which is 120 degrees
