Calculating the number of tiles to cover a rectangle
This skill teaches how to calculate the number of smaller tiles needed to cover a larger rectangular area by dividing the area of the large rectangle by the area of one tile.
🎙️
How many of the smaller tiles will it take to cover the larger area
🎙️
Area is width times height, so let's find our areas. The larger area is 48
🎙️
And the tile is half times half, which is one quarter, or 0.25
🎙️
The number of tiles will be the larger area divided by the area of each tile
🎙️
When we divide by one quarter, or 0.25, it's the same as multiplying by 4
🎙️
So the number of tiles to cover the larger area is 192
