Let's find the average number of children who have each type of pet

We can read each number and find that 2 children have dogs, 7 have cats, and 3 have fish.

So the total number of children surveyed is 12

An average is just the total divided by the count

So we can divide 12 children by 3 types of pets

And we have an average of 4 children who have each type of pet
