Long division decimal quotient

Let's divide 9 by 4 to a decimal quotient

We start normally for long division. Two 8's fit into 9, leaving one.

Now we can add a decimal point to the dividend and the quotient on top. Add any zeroes you like after the decimal

Now we continue normally, two 4s fit into 10.

And 5 4s fit into 20.

So our answer is 2.25

This skill teaches how to calculate long division with decimal quotients, demonstrating how to add a decimal to the dividend and the quotient once the initial integer division is done, allowing for further division with added zeros to reach a decimal result.
