Let's divide this mixed fraction by a whole number

When we are working with fraction division or multiplication, improper fractions are often a lot easier to deal with, so let's convert this into an improper fraction. 2 wholes is 4 quarters.

So 2 and three quarters is 8 plus 3, quarters, or 11 quarters.

Now we can divide. Dividing a fraction by a whole number is the same as multiplying the denominator by that whole number. So we have 11 over, 4 times 3

Which gives us an answer of 11 over 12
