Let's multiply this mixed fraction, 1 and three quarters, by 5

One approach is the first convert our mixed fraction to an improper fraction, 7 over 4

When multiplying by a whole, we just multiply the numerator, so that's 35 over 4

We can simplify that by taking out 8 wholes, so our answer is 8 and 3 quarters
