Let's find what value could be put in the circle to make this equation correct

If we do the same thing to both sides of an equation it is still equal, so let's add 8 to both sides so we can cancel out the 8 that's subtracted on the left side.

Now we just have 5 times our mystery number equal to 10

If 5 of them are equal to 10, then one of them is equal to 10 divided by 5. We can divide both sides by 5

So our mystery number is 2
