Let's write this out. 9 out of some number is equal to 30 out of 100, or 30 percent

We can rearrange the terms to solve. Our mystery number is 9 times 100, divided by 30

Cancelling zeroes, that's 90 divided by 3, or 30

So 9 is 30 percent of 30
