This math skill teaches how to calculate the volume of a cylinder by multiplying the area of its circular base (π times the radius squared) with its height.
🎙️
Find the volume of this cylinder
🎙️
The volume of any prism, including a cylinder, is just the area of its base times the length of the straight sides. In this case the straight sides are its height
🎙️
The area of the base is the area of a circle, which is pi times the radius squared, or pi times 7 squared.
🎙️
So the area of the base is 49 pi
🎙️
If we multiply 49 pi times the height of 10, we will get the volume
🎙️
So that's a volume of 490 pi, or about 1539
